Annual Archdiocesan Rite of Election and Presentation of Baptised Candidates

This event is the culmination of the second period of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) course, known as the Period of the Catechumenate. The Rite of Election signifies that the Catechumens are ready to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil with their sponsors and the community recognising their inclination to be welcomed into the Church. Afterwards, the names of the Catechumens are written into the Book of the Elect and they are now referred too as “the Elect”
