Memorial of Saints Joachim & Anne – 26th July 2023

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of St Joachim and St Anne, the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are no mention of their names in the Bible and what is known about them comes from legend and tradition. The parents of Mary nurtured, taught and bought her up to be a worthy Mother of God. Their faith allowed Mary to be strong and courageous as she stood by her Son at the Cross as he was crucified and still believe. St Joachim and St Anne are the patron saints of grandparents, whilst St Anne is also the patron saint of Christian mothers and women in labour.
